Grants in Action - Grand Bahama Children’s Home

Grand Bahama

Since 1977, The Grand Bahama Children’s Home has been committed to helping children who, through no fault of their own, are unable to be raised in their own homes. When Hurricane Dorian hit, 32 children in the Home had to be evacuated to a shelter in the middle of storm. There was substantial flooding and the contents of the home were a total loss, but the structure remained sound. ONE Bahamas Fund partnered with the Kate & Justin Rose Foundation and SBP (formerly Saint Bernard Project) to renovate and refurbish the home as well as ensure and improve its continued operations. The Fund contributed $300,000 of the total project costs of $1.1 million. Construction is underway and is expected to be complete by the end of March and welcome these 32 children back to their Home.
